Types of Credentials

ADE is vetting USU to prepare teacher candidates for the following Preliminary Credentials:

• ●Bachelor of Education and Master of Arts in Teaching: Elementary Education K-8
• ●Master of Arts in Teaching: Secondary Education 6-12

 

The Elementary Education K-8 authorizes the holder to teach grades: K-8 in any self-contained classroom, such as those commonly found in elementary school in Arizona. Instruction is supported by a school site assignment that requires candidates to spend time in field experiences with emphasis on the application of theory into practice, through observation and participation in classrooms.

 

The Secondary Education 6-12 authorizes the holder to teach a Secondary in grades: 6-12 in any Secondary High School or Middle School classroom, such as those commonly found in Arizona. Instruction is supported by a school site assignment that requires candidates to spend time in field experiences with emphasis on the application of theory into practice, through observation and participation in classrooms.
