Working with Other Organizations

If another organization is involved in the implementation of your project or study and they have approved your activity, you will still go through the USU IRB process and receive formal approval prior to implementation.

This is true even if you have a letter from a collaborating organization stating they will allow you to implement your proposed activity and/or a letter from the IRB (or similar board) at this organization giving you permission - you still must go through USU's IRB for review and instruction to proceed.

DNP students are required to obtain a letter from the organization approving the project, and in some cases, will also need to go through IRB review at that site – however obtaining these permissions is not enough. Your chair will submit the IRB Review Form and supplemental materials you completed to USU's IRB. You must receive formal instructions to proceed before you implement your project.

DBA students may need an approval letter from the organization where they are conducting their project, a letter granting access to a data set, and/or IRB approval from a collaborating organization - however, obtaining these permissions is not enough. Your chair will submit the IRB Review Form and supplemental materials you completed  to USU's IRB. You must receive formal instructions to proceed before you implement your project.
