403 - Curriculum Management

Policy: Curriculum Development, program development and course changes are central to the implementation of the mission of the university. Faculty have primary responsibility for making recommendations to the college curriculum committees for significant curriculum matters.  Recommendations are forwarded to the faculty senate following the curriculum committee and then to the university council and the president's council for review and implementation. 

Purpose: To provide structure and process to the curriculum process overall.

Procedure:

  1. Minor curriculum changes to address issues such as typos, clarity of instructions, rubric updates, broken links, etc. are to be submitted via a ticket to the curriculum team and will be addressed as quickly as possible.  ALL changes to the master shell are to be made by the curriculum team to ensure consistency and accuracy of all documents. 
  2. Major curriculum changes such as new course or program development, course revisions, etc. should be prioritized by the colleges and approved by the governance structure and then added to the master schedule for development.
  3. The curriculum team is responsible for setting the development schedule for the university by prioritizing new courses to be developed for new programs, major revisions are to be spread across colleges. Revisions or changes made due to accreditation requirements will be prioritized. 

Scope: This policy applies to all significant curriculum changes as defined in the curriculum handbook.  All accreditation standards as outlined by WASC or programmatic accreditation shall be adhered to.
