Policy: The University will make efforts to periodically review employee work performance.
The performance review process will take place annually, or as business needs dictate. Employees may specifically request that their manager assist them in developing a performance improvement plan at any time. The performance review process is a means for increasing the quality and value of employee work performance and the company culture.
Employee initiative, effort, attitude, job knowledge, and other factors will be addressed. A positive job performance review does not guarantee a pay raise or continued employment. Pay raises and promotions are based on numerous factors, only one of which is job performance.
The University follows the Higher Education Act (HEA) (Section 487 (a)(20) which prohibits Title IV eligible institutions from providing incentive compensation to employee or third parties entities for their successes in securing student enrollments. Incentive compensation includes commissions, bonus payments, merit salary adjustments, and promotion decisions based solely on success in enrolling students. These regulations do not apply to the recruitment of international students residing in foreign countries who are not eligible to receive Federal financial aid.
Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to provide clarification on the University's employee performance evaluation process.
Scope: The policy applies to all University personnel (except contractors).
