Policy: The university has established various enrollment statuses for the purpose of tracking academic progression and satisfactory academic progress in accordance with federal regulations. 

In order for a student to stay enrolled at the university, they must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled in, and attending*, a current course, or
  • Submit and have an approved Intent to Return form on file within 14 calendar days of their last date of attendance with a return date for the second session in that semester, or
  • Have an approved Leave of Absence submitted within 14 calendar days of their last date of attendance.

Student Statuses
Future Start: Students who have been accepted for a future start
Re-entry: A future status, for students who withdrew, admin withdrew or have been dismissed and are readmitted.
Active: Students who are currently enrolled in courses and actively attending
Pending Graduate: Students who are currently attending their final semester
Transfer In: Student who transferred into a new program version
Leave of Absence: Students who are on an approved temporary leave of absence from the university.
Graduate: Students who have completed their program requirements
Completer: Students who have completed their certificate requirements
Administrative Withdrawn: Students who have been withdrawn by the institution due to non-attendance/participation or other violation of university policy.
Withdrawn (student initiated): Students who have withdrawn from the University.
Dismissed: Students who have been dismissed due to code of conduct violation or other severe reasons.
Transfer Out: A student who transferred out of a program version into a new program version.

Matriculated Students

Degree seeking applicants that are admitted, registered, and begin their studies with the university are placed into a matriculated status. The university identifies its students into the following classifications:

  • First-time Freshman- These degree seeking students have no prior experience attending any post-secondary institution at the undergraduate level. Students that earned college credits before graduation from high school are also included in this classification. 
  • Freshman- These degree seeking students have attended post-secondary institutions and may have transferred less than 12 semester credits from another institution. 
  • Transfer Student- These degree seeking students have transferred 12 or more semester credits from another institution.
  • Re-Entry - A student that stopped-out (withdrew, admin withdrew, dismiss, etc.) and are readmitted. Refer to the Readmission Policy

Non-matriculated Students

Non-degree seeking applicants that are admitted, registered, and begin their studies with the university will be classified as non-matriculated. 

Full-Time and Part-Time

Matriculated and non-matriculated student enrollment status may be reported to external agencies as mandated by federal regulation. The university uses the following classifications to identify student's enrollment status: i.e., full-time or part-time.

* The Teacher Credentialing Preparation Program is considered a sub-baccalaureate undergraduate program even though a bachelor's degree is required for admission. 

Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to define student enrollment statuses as reported to external agencies regardless of federal student aid participation. 

Scope: The scope of this policy applies to all current and former students.
