Policy: Students are responsible for maintaining up-to-date information: e.g., name, residence, phone number, or email address. This policy outlines the appropriate procedures for students to update to student information, except student name.
Refer to the Change of Student Name and Preferred Name Policy for more information.
Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to ensure the accuracy and integrity of student records by establishing clear protocols for requesting and processing changes to demographic data.
Procedure:
Social Security Number Updates
- Students needing to update their social security number can do so by completing the Social Security Number Update Request Form and submitting appropriate documentation (e.g., Social Security Card, Social Security Administration Letter).
- The Office of the Registrar will review the submitted request and documents; and update the student’s information accordingly.
- Once completed, the Office of Registrar will inform the student and necessary departments (e.g. Student Finance and IT).
Demographic Information
- Students should contact their Academic Advisor if they are considering relocating during their course of study. Students who relocate while enrolled in a degree program may be unable to complete their studies if they are moving to a country or state where the University is not currently authorized to offer the program. Refer to the Accreditation and Approvals Page within the Catalog.
- Students who need to update their demographic information may do so by logging into the Student Portal.
Scope: This policy applies to all current and prior students.
