Types of Credentials

The CTC has approved USU to prepare student teachers for the following Preliminary Teaching Credentials:

Preliminary Multiple Subject Teaching Credential

Preliminary Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with Bilingual Authorization (Spanish)

Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential

Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential with Bilingual Authorization (Spanish)

The Preliminary Multiple Subject Teaching Credential authorizes the holder to teach all subjects in a self-contained classroom, typically in elementary school settings.

The Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential authorizes the holder to teach a specific subject in a departmentalized classroom, typically in middle and high school settings, in the subject area authorized by the credential.
