Types of Credentials
CCTC has approved USU to prepare teacher candidates for the following Preliminary Credentials:
- 2042 Multiple Subject Credential
- 2042 Multiple Subject Credential with Bilingual (Spanish-English) Authorization
- 2042 Single Subject Credential- in the following CTC approved areas-
- 2042 Single Subject Credential with Bilingual (Spanish-English) Authorization
The 2042 Multiple Subject Credential authorizes the holder to teach grades: K-6 in any self-contained classroom, such as those commonly found in elementary school in California.
The 2042 Single Subject Credential authorizes the holder to teach grades: 7-12 in a single subject area approved by CTC. which includes: Art, Dance, English, Foreign Language, Health Science, Mathematics Foundational Level, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Science Foundational Level, Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space, Physics, Social Science, Theatre/Drama, World Languages, Bilingual Authorization
Instruction is supported by a school site assignment that requires candidates to spend time in field experiences with emphasis on the application of theory into practice, through observation and participation in classrooms. A minimum of 600 hours of student teaching is required.
