Improvement Plan
Instructors identify teacher interns who need supplemental academic, professional, and/or personal assistance to be successful in coursework. The instructor, Academic Advisor, and intern will meet to discuss areas of need and develop an improvement plan. Successful completion of the plan, monitored by the instructor, must be achieved prior to completion of the coursework.
When the USU Supervisors identify teacher interns who are not meeting the teacher intern standards, they meet with these candidates to develop an improvement plan.
- If candidates fulfill the goals of the plan, they advance to the next internship course.
- If candidates do not fulfill the goals, they may be dismissed from the internship and required to participate in activities and observations outlined in the plan.
- If candidates do not meet standards, the Program Director will begin the programmatic dismissal process.
- Counseling out and/or dismissal are subject to USU’s students’ right to appeal.
