Pre-Service Requirements

Prior to intern eligibility, candidates must complete a minimum of 120 clock hours of pre-service preparation, or the semester/quarter unit equivalent, as required by the CTC. The program fulfills this requirement through two designated pre-service courses that together provide foundational preparation in general pedagogy. Candidates must complete each course with a grade of B or higher. Once grades are finalized, the OEPP submits the request to the CTC to issue an Intern Credential for the candidate.

Candidates find their own employment and complete an additional intern application with the COE and with the CTC. Internships may be completed only in public school districts with which the program has a current internship agreement.
