Teaching in Bilingual Classrooms
Each intern that is in a bilingual classroom must complete the Bilingual Authorization as part of their programmatic requirements and pass the appropriate CSET exam. The Bilingual Authorization is in Spanish only, at United States University, and consists of the following courses:
- EDU 522 First and Second Language Acquisition
- EDU 580 Latinos in the United States
- EDU 581 Desarrollo Del Lenguaje Y Lectura
United States University only offers the Bilingual Authorization in Spanish. The Spanish CSET subtests for the Bilingual Authorization are Subtests III, IV, and V. To begin teaching in a Bilingual classroom as part of the Internship experience, students must present passing scores on CSET Subtest III before they begin their internship experience. Then, students can submit passing scores on Subtest IV and V before they complete their program.
